Project Objective
Refurbishment of Main Access Tunnels to Heathrow Terminal 1, 2 and 3
What We Did
We developed a 3D model from the clients design drawings.
With 24 hour access needing to be maintained into the Airport, we had to work during night time tunnel bore closures, whilst traffic remained running in the adjacent tunnel bore. With the constant proximity of live traffic we developed a detailed 10 shift, minute by minute, member by member erection sequence. Supplemented by a limited number of 10 minute total closures to facilitate safety critical lifting operations. The project was completed to programme and without incident. Based upon our performance we were awarded first place the main contractors supply chain awards.
